Overtime Rules (US)

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek:

  • Regular pay: up to 40 hours per week
  • Overtime (1.5x): all hours over 40 per week
  • Some states (like California) also require daily overtime over 8 hours
