The Privacy
Policy
We believe privacy is not a paradox to be resolved — it is a constant. Here is exactly what we know, what we keep, and what we will never touch.
At CalcGems, we built a calculator site — not a surveillance system. This policy is written plainly, organized by the GEMS framework, and designed to be actually readable. If you spot an undefined variable, let us know.
The Known Variables — What We Collect
Every equation starts with what you know. Here is the complete set of data we may collect when you use CalcGems:
- Usage Data: Pages visited, time on site, browser type, and device info — collected automatically to help us understand which calculators are most useful.
- Calculator Inputs: Numbers you type into our tools are processed entirely in your browser. They are never sent to our servers. Your mortgage numbers stay your mortgage numbers.
- Contact Info (if you reach out): If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use it only to reply.
- Cookies: Small text files placed in your browser for analytics. See Section M for the full cookie equation.
That is the complete set. No hidden variables. No undeclared terms.
The Empty Set — What We Will Never Collect
Some things are worth stating with absolute precision. The following set is empty — and intentionally so. CalcGems does not collect, sell, or trade:
- Your name, address, or any personally identifiable information — unless you give it to us voluntarily
- Your financial data, health information, or any calculator results
- Your location beyond general region (used only for analytics)
- Any data from children under 13 — CalcGems does not knowingly collect data from minors
We do not build user profiles. We do not sell data to advertisers. There are no third-party data brokers in this equation. The empty set is intentional.
Cookies — The Remainder
When you work through long division, there is sometimes a remainder. Cookies are our remainder — small, harmless, and honestly not that interesting.
- Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to count page visits and understand which calculators get used most. This data is aggregated and anonymous.
- No Tracking Cookies: We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No Login Cookies: There is no user account system on CalcGems. Nothing to log in to.
You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies at any time. CalcGems calculators run entirely in your browser and require no cookies to function.
Third-Party Theorems & Your Rights
Science builds on the work of others — and so do we. CalcGems uses the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics — for aggregated, anonymous site usage statistics. Google Privacy Policy →
- IONOS — our hosting provider, which processes server logs in the normal course of operations.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA): You have the right to know what data we hold (spoiler: almost nothing), request deletion, and opt out of analytics tracking via browser controls.
To exercise any of these rights, email policy@calcgems.com. We respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy occasionally. The revision date at the top changes when we do. We will never retroactively expand data collection without prominent notice.
QED — Privacy Proved
This policy in one line: We collect the minimum necessary to run a useful site, and nothing more.
