How to Calculate Tip and Split a Bill

This calculator adds a tip percentage to your bill and divides the total evenly among your group.

The formulas

Tip = Bill × (Tip% ÷ 100)

Total = Bill + Tip

Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People

Tipping etiquette

In the US, 15–20% is standard for sit-down restaurant service. 18% is a safe default. For large groups, some restaurants automatically add 18% gratuity — check your receipt to avoid double-tipping.
