How to Create Strong Passwords

A strong password is your first line of defense against account breaches. This generator creates random passwords using uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

What makes a password strong

• Length: At least 12 characters, ideally 16+ for important accounts
• Complexity: Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
• Randomness: No dictionary words, names, or patterns
• Uniqueness: A different password for every account

Why length matters more than complexity

Each additional character multiplies the possible combinations exponentially. A 12-character password has roughly 3.2 × 10²² combinations; a 16-character password has 8.5 × 10²⁹ — over a billion times harder to crack.

Best practices

Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, KeePass) to generate and store unique passwords. Enable two-factor authentication on important accounts. Never share passwords or write them on sticky notes.
